The 62nd Anniversary of the Niemba Ambush will take place in St. Patrick’s Garrison Church, Cathal Brugha Bks, at 12.00 hrs on Saturday 5th November 2022.

On 8th November 1960, the Niemba Ambush took place in the Congo, it was the first time Irish soldiers were involved in a combat engagement since the ending of the Civil War in 1922.

The Niemba Ambush was and still remains, the greatest loss of life of Irish Defence Forces members in a single incident while serving overseas.
