2020 has been a hugely challenging year but one where ONE continued to support veterans across the country through the provision of homeless services and other critical supports. 2020 saw the launch of our new website one-veterans.org, a veterans resource hub, approval for our new hostel and Veteran Support Centre in Cobh, a Medical Programme, and a new Diversity and Inclusion Strategy.
ONE, as the provider of Support, Comradeship, Advocacy and Remembrance (SCAR) for all Irish Veterans, recognises the need to build a more inclusive and diverse organisation. 2021 will see the launch of a number of our new services and initiatives designed to serve our diverse membership profile. We recognise the unique nature of military service and we want all veterans and wider-society to be proud of that service. Greater understanding of the specific needs of all veterans, women and men, young and old, will ensure that the organisation continues to grow and to provide essential services and support to those who have proudly served their country.
Reflecting back on 2020, none of this progress would have been possible without the support of our members, our dedicated staff and volunteers, our donors, corporate partners, government agencies and families. We want to also thank Defence Forces personnel, The Leopardstown Hospital Trust, The ESB, Department of Defence, Dublin Region Homeless Executive, Zendesk, Olive Media and the Web Consulting Agency, for their partnerships in 2020.
We must also remember all our veterans who sadly passed away in 2020 – Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and loved ones.
We look forward to seeing all our veterans in person in 2021.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
