'Hope Couture'
is a clothing line
inspired by the laneways, alleyways and streets of Ireland. It takes the most recognisable visual element of a soldier
- their camouflage - and creates a new uniform for veterans that works to both highlight the struggles
they face as
they battle homelessness and give them the hope to escape it. By showcasing the harsh realities of their lives on the streets O.N.E hope to shine a light on the lack of support given to members of the Defence Forces when they leave a life of service.
At the heart of "Hope Couture" is a
unique design element that
has the
potential to help its wearer actually
escape homelessness. QR codes have been
Integrated
into the designs, allowing
anyone
who comes in contact
with the
patterns to instantly donate
to O.N.E
with their smartphones.
O.N.E. is the national charity for homeless veterans. Founded in response to the tragic deaths of homeless veterans in the late 80s and 90s on the streets of Ireland, O.N.E's mission is to save struggling veterans from homelessness and tackle the physical, emotional and mental health issues that lead them down that path. O.N.E has helped over a thousand homeless male and female Defence Forces veterans who have served abroad in conflict zones. Many come to O.N.E. with depression, disabilities, PTSD, or having suffered family breakdowns, with little support to call on.
O.N.E provide over 19,000 bed nights for homeless veterans every year - with locations all across
Ireland,
but demand for
shelter severely
outweighs supply, for every veteran that receives a bed there are many more left fighting for survival on the streets.
O.N.E desperately need your help to keep our veterans safe. To donate text 50300 or donate above.
