ONE selected as GAA Charity Partner 2025

ONE (Óglaigh Náisiúnta Na hÉireann, the Organisation of National Ex-Service Personnel) has partnered with the GAA in a landmark initiative to raise vital funds and awareness for veteran homelessness and mental health support.

IRELAND – ONE (Óglaigh Náisiúnta na hÉireann, the Organisation of National Ex-Service Personnel) has today announced its selection as an official charity partner of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) for 2025.

ONE is a Registered Charity whose primary objective is to support veterans of the Defence Forces by the provision of accommodation to homeless veterans in its Veterans’ Homes and the provision of other advice and support to veterans, in particular Mental Health advice, through its nationwide network of Branches, Veteran Support Centres, and Veteran Support Officers.

Since 2008, the GAA’s charity partner initiative has contributed nearly €1.5 million to over 50 charities. In 2025, the GAA will collaborate with four selected charities, each receiving a €25,000 donation, to advance their impactful work within Irish communities.

ONE’s current services cost approximately €1.6M annually, excluding capital (building) costs. We receive approximately €751,000 in state funding which means that we must raise approximately €849,000 in 2025.

Announced today in Croke Park, this partnership will help maximise awareness of the professional services that ONE provides within the veteran community. This collaboration with the GAA will be highlighted during national match days, such as All-Ireland quarter-finals and semi-finals at Croke Park, providing a platform to engage with the public and promote ONE’s initiatives. Many former Defence Forces Veterans struggle with reintegration into civilian life, facing barriers such as homelessness and mental health difficulties. ONE has provided crucial support to over 1,500 veterans since 1994, ensuring they have access to accommodation, mental health resources, and a strong support network.

Expressing gratitude for the partnership, ONE’s National President, Michael Kinahan, commented: “Being selected as a GAA charity partner for 2025 is a profound honour. This collaboration offers a remarkable opportunity to elevate awareness and support for veterans of the Defence Forces who have selflessly served our nation. We are deeply thankful to the GAA and its members for their commitment to our cause.”

Also commenting on the announcement, President of the Gaelic Athletic Association, Jarlath Burns, said: “The GAA is proud to partner with ONE in 2025. Their unwavering dedication to supporting veterans aligns seamlessly with the GAA’s values of community and service. We look forward to working together to make a meaningful impact.”

This partnership with the GAA marks a significant milestone in ONE’s efforts to ensure that no Irish veteran is left behind. The collaboration aims to foster greater awareness of ONE within Irish society, ultimately supporting those veterans that have served our country and now need our support.
