The Tánaiste and Minister for Defence Micheál Martin TD visited James Stephen’s Barracks in Kilkenny recently. While there he also visited the Veterans Support Centre (VSC) operated and run by ONE for all veterans.
The Tánaiste was accompanied by John McGuinness TD, Ms Jacqui McCrum Secretary General of the Dept of Defence, Lt General Sean Clancy, the Chief of Staff of the Defence Forces, and Lt Colonel Gareth Pendergast, OC 3 Infantry Battalion and James Stephen’s Barracks.
Branch chairperson Robert Kearney, along with Branch Welfare Officers Noel Bourke and Paul Martin greeted and briefed the visitors on the history of the ONE, its mission and the ONE’s Strategic Plan for the future. The visitors were also informed that the VSC would become fully operational on Wednesday 8th March.
In concluding the visit the Tánaiste and Minister for Defence Micheál Martin TD thanked the ONE for its valued support of our Veterans over the years. He also thanked all the staff and ONE members from James Stephen’s Barracks who helped in bringing this project to fruition.
