THE FIRST ALL-FEMALE ELECTED OFFICERS WILL LEAD A NEW ONE BRANCH IN SOUTH TIPPERARY (CLONMEL)
This year sees the first time all-female elected officers will lead out a branch of ONE, and a new branch created in South Tipperary (Clonmel) early this year.
The three elected officers have over 40 years of combined service to the Defence Forces and bring experiences from various disciplines and former units. The committee was elected to the posts via a ballot of members in January 2021. The elected officers are Audra Larkin as Chairperson, Noelle Gardiner as Secretary, and Davina Long as Treasurer.
The elected officers bring many different experiences as they are employed in the healthcare sector, the retail sector and addiction services. The three officers on the committee are supported by the remaining committee and members who have extensive years of valuable experience and service to bring to the branch, alongside volunteers who freely give their time to support to branch. The branch recognises the service that each member brings. We believe that it is not just our member’s service but our member’s life experience and professional experience that can enhance the service provided by the branch to our members and in turn enhance the services already provided by the ONE.
“We want to ensure that we bring to the appropriate forums the needs of our Veterans all across the branch area. We also strive to ensure that we represent to the best of our ability the ONE and the work that they do within the strategic framework. We also look forward to working with existing organisations in the area that work with Veterans. The branch applauds the service and sacrifice made by all in the service of their country. We also know that as a branch we can acknowledge and highlight the needs of Veterans in many areas relative to the National Framework laid out by ONE collectively we can lend a voice to the needs of all Veterans” – Audra Larkin, Chairperson ONE South Tipperary Branch.
The branch meets monthly and has just completed a work plan for the year 2022 and has identified four main areas of work for the local branch in the coming year. Working within the S.C.A.R framework: Support, Comradeship, Advocacy and Remembrance.
They are Veteran’s Mental Health, Veterans and our families, national and local remembrance and commemoration and fundraising for the charity’s main purpose and aims. The branch welcomes queries regarding membership and support from any organisations or individuals who may want to support the branch going forward.
