Tomorrow, Saturday 11th June 2022 two Veterans will trek 132km of the Wicklow Way in 30hrs for ONE Veterans Charity.
This long trek will be done by good friends and former Reserve Defence Force (RDF) colleagues Roy Gallagher and Ronan De Leis.
Roy Gallagher (50) served in the RDF for 21-years, his units were 21 Infantry Battalion and 7 Infantry Battalion before he finished at the rank of Sgt attached to the Eastern Brigade Training Depot.
Roy is currently employed as a Special Needs Assistant, he also volunteers with his local Scout Group the 3rd (Gorey) Wexford. Roy has completed the Wicklow Way 4 times (twice solo).
Ronan De Leis (45) served in B Coy 21 Infantry Battalion in 1996, was promoted Cpl in 1997, and in 1999 he became the youngest Sgt in the history of RDF. He was instrumental in helping to set up the Eastern Brigade Reserve Training Depot. He retired from the RDF in 2002 to join An Garda Siochana.
