ONE supports the needs of Irish veterans by the provision of accommodation to homeless veterans and the provision of other advice and support through its nationwide network of Branches and Veteran Support Centres.

“I am a Veteran Campaign” video-based campaign, was launched in the last year.

This initiative was created to illustrate that veterans are not just ex-soldiers but regular people, who are as much a part of society as anyone else. We have in conjunction with the assistance of the audio-video section of the Defence Forces Public Relations Branch produced a number of these videos of various veterans discussing details about their work lives, hobbies, families and their role in the larger community.

With more than 140,000 former Permanent and Reserve Defence Force personnel in Ireland, the campaign celebrated the diversity of Irish veterans and also explored the ongoing and complex challenges experienced by those returning to civilian life.

Our first few videos launched as part of the campaign feature Amy O’Connor, a 22-year veteran and current Career and Life Coach specialising in military transitions, Infantry Corps Seargent and Olympic Gold medallist Michael Carruth and former Army Ranger Wing Commander now TD, Dr Cathal Berry.
