Dublin to Galway Challenge 2023

Seven members of the Defence Forces are walking from Dublin to Galway, 216km over 5 days from 21st to 25th August to raise much-needed funds for two charities.

The team is Coy Sgt Martin Moules, CQMS David Bates, CQMS Darren McCarthy, Sgt Jonathan Santamaria, CQMS Peter Scully, Cpl Fran Firzhenry and Cpl Peter McCardle. They are supported by other members of the Defence Forces in logistics and transport roles.

They are taking on this challenge for two charities that they feel strongly about the Irish Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and the Organisation of National Ex-Service Personnel (ONE), a charity that supports Defence Forces Veterans.

Last year most members of this team completed this same event for The Miscarriage Association of Ireland and the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA), raising over €11,000 between both charities.

ONE supports the needs of Irish veterans by the provision of accommodation to homeless veterans and the provision of other advice and support through its nationwide network of Branches and Veteran Support Centres. For more visit here.
