The Department of Social Protection is responsible for issuing the Public Services Card (PSC) and managing the Personal Public Service (PPS) Number.

The PSC authenticates your identity to help you access a range of public services in an easy and safe manner such as getting social welfare payments.

A PPS Number is a unique reference number that helps you access social welfare benefits, public services and information in Ireland.
