Today Saturday 29th June, the Kevin Quinn Foundation Charity Football Match took place in Cathal Brugha Barracks in honour of Defence Forces Veteran Kevin Quinn, who fought adenocarcinoma gastric cancer with Signet Cell.
The rematch between Kevin Quinn XI and the Irish Defence Forces was a great game, end-to-end battles, in the streaming rain didn’t slow anything down. Both teams were fuelled by passion and purpose. The game was quick, with the referee allowing the game to restart quickly when possible and we lost count of the shots at both ends. The Defence Forces Football team followed up on last year’s win and retained the Kevin Quinn Perpetual Trophy.

Kevin’s legacy lives on through this event, with his sons, former players, friends, and ex-professional footballers forming the Kevin Quinn XI. Last year over €12,000 was raised for Veteran & cancer-related charities, and this year, they aim to do even more.
Your generosity supports ONE Veterans Charity, offering crucial support, camaraderie, advocacy, and remembrance for Irish veterans.

Special thanks to organiser Paul Clarke, Lt Col Alan Courtney, OC 7 Inf Bn and Cathal Brugha Bks for hosting the game and later for their hospitality with food and refreshments in the Michael Collins Club. All had a fantastic day.
