Niemba Ambush Survivor Joseph Fitzpatrick passes away (Dec 5th)

Sadly the remaining survivor of the Niemba Ambush Joseph Fitzpatrick passed away on the 5th Dec 2023. Joseph is pictured here with fellow survivor Tom Kenny (Tom passed away on 30th Oct 2021).

The 63rd Anniversary of the Niemba Ambush was remembered recently in Dublin, more here:

FITZPATRICK, Joseph (Cabra, Dublin) (formerly of the Irish Defence Forces) – 5th December 2023 (peacefully) in the wonderful care of the staff of the Mater Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his brother Des. Joseph will be very sadly missed and remembered with love by his wife Eileen and daughter Rosie, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

Reposing at Lanigans Funeral Home, Faussagh Avenue, Cabra on Friday, 8th December, between 2pm and 4pm. Removal on Saturday, 9th December, to the Church of the Most Precious Blood, Cabra West arriving for 10am Mass, followed by cremation in Glasnevin Crematorium. Those who are unable to attend the funeral, please feel free to leave a message in the Condolence Book at the bottom of the page. Family flowers only please.
