Sláinte agus Folláine Na mBan – Women’s Health and Wellness

January 6th is marked by Nollaig na mBan or Women’s Little Christmas, in celebration of the feast of the Epiphany in Ireland.

Today a number of female members of ONE took part in our inaugural Sláinte agus Folláine Na mBan (Women’s Health and Wellness). The day was aimed at female veterans or those who interact regularly with female veterans including female Defence Forces Personnel Support Services (PSS) staff and other agencies – and it was a great success!

The event was held in the Midlands Park Hotel, in Portlaoise, in an informal conversational way amongst the veterans, discussing serious topics about our health and well-being, mental health and suicide, and other lighter topics that brought smiles and laughter. All participants were given a fantastic goody bag and a delightful and relaxing lunch.

Thank you to all sponsors of the event, especially the main sponsors Health Service Executive (HSE) and ANSAC Credit Union Ltd. Special thanks to Sarah Walshe who went above and beyond to make this event happen.

ONE supports the needs of Irish veterans by providing accommodation to homeless veterans in its Veterans’ Homes and providing other advice and support to veterans through its nationwide network of 35 Branches and 15 Veteran Support Centres. More info here: www.ONE-Veterans.Org
