Thank you Árdscoil na Tríonóide TY Students

Recently members of ONE’s St Michael’s Branch (Athy) visited Transition Year (TY) students in Árdscoil na Tríonóide in Athy. Kevin Carton and John Roche spoke to the TY students about their time in the Irish Defence Forces and the incredible work that the Defence Forces Veterans charity ONE continues to do.

That same week some TY students had helped to fundraise for the ONE at five different locations around Athy and helped raise over €1,000 for those veterans in need or who have become homeless.

“Despite the rain, our TYs were on collection duty for the ONE. Our students were delighted to help raise money for such a worthy cause. Such an interesting presentation, we look forward to welcoming back John and Kevin in the future. As a thank you to our students John and Kevin presented us with gifts as well as an ONE commemorative coin, 1916 commemorative badge and a volunteer recognition medal.”

ONE’s primary objective is to support the needs of Irish veterans by the provision of accommodation to homeless and other veterans in need of such domestic accommodation in its Veterans’ Homes and the provision of other advice and support to veterans, in particular Mental Health advice, through its nationwide network of Branches and Veterans’ Support Centres.
