Chaplaincy Service of The Irish Defence Forces visit

On 23 January 2024, a delegation from the Chaplaincy Service of The Irish Defence Forces visited ONE’s 35-bed en-suit Home for homeless veterans in Smithfield Dublin called Brú na bhFiann (Home of the Brave).

The delegation was led by Head Chaplain Fr Paschal Hanrahan HCF, where they were met and briefed on the work and services ONE provides to Defence Forces Veterans by ONE’s CEO Cormac Kirwan, Board Chairperson Colm Campbell, House Manager Richard Dillon and Deputy House Manager Sinéad Black.

The Chaplaincy Service of The Irish Defence Forces provides pastoral care, spiritual support and guidance to all members of the Defence Forces at home and on duty overseas and their families and many other tasks. They are to the forefront of the Roll of Remembrance in honour of colleagues who have died on missions overseas, and at home while serving. ONE’s primary objective is to support the needs of Irish veterans by the provision of accommodation to homeless and other veterans in need of such domestic accommodation in its Veterans’ Homes and the provision of other advice and support to veterans, in particular Mental Health advice, through its nationwide network of Branches and Veterans’ Support Centres.
