Comradeship is one of ONE’s strategic goals

ONE’s objects and aims can be summarised as SCAR: Support | Comradeship | Advocacy | Remembrance

Comradeship is described in ONE’s strategic goals as:

  • To develop a spirit of comradeship among veterans, and between veterans and serving members of Óglaigh Na hÉireann.
  • To foster public interest in Óglaigh Na hÉireann.
  • To promote social and cultural activities.

ONE’s Cork City Branch and Veterans Support Centre (VSC) in Camp Field across from Collins Barracks Cork regularly hold coffee mornings and organises dinners for their members and other veterans who visit the VSC.

ONE’s VSC is staffed by trained volunteers in mental health and welfare, similar to Citizen Advice Centres/Men’s or Women’s Sheds, before our professional Veteran Support Officers (Counsellors) can offer their services and support.

ONE’s Sgt Pat Mulcahy DSM Branch has started up a breakfast club in its VSC/Pte’s Mess in McKee Barracks Dublin for veterans to meet, socialise and support each other.

ONE’s primary objective is to support the needs of Irish veterans by the provision of accommodation to homeless and other veterans in need of such domestic accommodation in its Veterans’ Homes and the provision of other advice and support to veterans, in particular Mental Health advice, through its nationwide network of Branches and Veterans’ Support Centres.
